Google is Set To Launch Its First eCommerce Platform in India

According to the reports, the total population who regularly purchase services online has extended to 14% and it is going to be increased by 45% by the year 2021. E-commerce is evolving in everyone’s life daily & so is the no. of people shopping online while sitting at their home.

Till now the most major players in the Indian eCommerce industry are Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, etc. but now a race to capture India’s consumer space has intensified, started by Google itself. According to the reports, Google is now planning to launch their business in Indian E-commerce by this year and may coincide with Diwali. The development comes at the time when Google has already invested about $550 in a Chinese e-commerce firm.

According to the recent reports Google seems to be backed out of investing into Flipkart after seeing that Walmart shareholders get $16 billion deal to acquire the 77% part of Flipkart. If Google gets into the online e-commerce platforms in India, then the ongoing fight would be more expensive for incumbents of Flipkart, Amazon, PaytmMall, etc.  Further reports have added that the search giant has been associated with all around 2000 workshops that help the companies to identify the sellers on its e-commerce platforms.

From Flipkart to Amazon, the eCommerce online platform has always been a competitive race but now it’s all change eminently with the debut of Google in the e-commerce industry. The two companies reported in their statements that, the deal is of strategic partnership is to enhance the market scenarios.


According to the Reports, Mr. Casear Sengupta will lead product management at Google’s headquarters. He will be testing the e-commerce in India. If everything goes well according to the Google's plan, then India would be the first country to experience the Google’s eCommerce platform. The Indian eCommerce Sector is currently pegged at $38.5 billion and will be projected to grow at $100 billion by the year 2020. There is an estimate of 18 million subscriber base of the family who will help Google, e-commerce. Also, the vernacular features are likely to give the company insights into millions of shoppers into the purchasing power. Experts believe that the growth story of eCommerce web development in India looks passively strong. With the massive user base, India looms as the attractive market for retailers.  Currently, it is estimated that about 200 million (15%) India consumers will be shopping online by the end of the year 2018.
